If you want to make the most of your pump, follow some Grundfos Pump Installation Tips, which we will mention in this blog. The Grundfos water pressure pumps are all-in-one booster pumps that integrate all features into one unit. These pumps are quick and easy to install, saving time for other jobs.
As a multi-purpose key solution, these pumps are built for every domestic indoor and outdoor application. To ensure reliable and optimum operation, we designed the Grundfos Pressure Pump with two types of impellers: semi-open and enclosed. Let’s check some essential Grundfos Pump Installation Tips.
Quick and Easy Grundfos Pump Installation Tips
Our Grundfos Magna1 100-40 F can be installed easily as a thoroughly combined, all-in-one solution. First of all, check these points before beginning the procedures of installation:
- Is the pump equal to your order?
- Is the pump suitable for the supply voltage and frequency at the installation site?
- Are accessories and other equipment undamaged during transportation?
Check the oil level in the oil chamber before you install it. These pressure pumps can be installed with a hose or pipe.
Free-standing submerged installation
Grundfos water pumps for free-standing submerged installations can stand on the tank’s bottom. Fit a flexible union or coupling to the outlet port to facilitate service on the pump and easy separation of the pump and outlet line. If you are using a hose, make sure that the hose does not buckle and that the inside diameter of the hose matches that of the pump outlet port.
If using a pipe, fit the union or coupling, non-return valve, and isolating valve in the order mentioned when viewed from the pump. If the pump is installed in muddy conditions or on uneven ground, we recommend that you support the pump on bricks or similar support. These Grundfos Pump Installation Tipswill benefit you.
Installation Procedure
- Lower the pump into the liquid using a chain secured to the lifting bracket of the Grundfos pump. We recommend that you place the pump on a plain, solid foundation. Make sure that the pump stands securely.
- Hang up the end of the chain on a suitable hook at the top of the tank so the chain cannot come into contact with the pump housing.
- Adjust the motor cable length by coiling it up on a relief fitting to ensure the cable is not damaged during operation. Fasten the comfort fitting to a suitable hook. Make sure that the line is not sharply bent or pinched.
- Connect the motor cable properly.
- Make sure to follow all grundfos pump installation tips.
Observe all Safety Regulations
Observe all safety regulations at the installation site. Use blowers to provide the tank with fresh air. Ensure the lifting bracket is tightened before attempting to lift the pump. Tighten if necessary. Lack of attention during lifting or transport can result in cracks in the pump or injury to people.
Before beginning the installation, switch off the power supply and lock the main switch in position 0 with a padlock to ensure the power supply cannot be accidentally switched on. Disconnect any external voltage connected to the water pump before working on it.
Electrical Connection
- The electrical connection must be carried out following local regulations.
- The pump nameplate indicates the supply voltage and frequency.
- The voltage tolerance must be within – 5 %/+ 5 % of the rated voltage.
- Ensure the motor is suitable for the power supply available at the installation site.
- All pumps are equipped with 10 m cable and an extra cable end.
- All Grundfos pumps with sensors must be linked to a GU01 or GU02 pump controller.
- Before installation and the pump’s first startup, check the cable condition visually and measure the cable resistance to avoid short circuits.
- Make sure that all defensive supplies have been attached accurately. The pump must not operate and run dry.
- The pump must be connected to a central switch with a minimum contact gap of 3 mm in all poles.
- The local firefighting authorities must approve the classification of the installation site in each case. Grundfos Magna1 50-80 F and pump controllers must not be installed in potentially explosive environments.
